Hello World!

It's amazing how I manage to do these really smart things at times. Like, for instance, offer TrekToday readers the chance to ask questions to UPN, and then having all those questions redirected to the main news email address. After posting the news story I went offline for a while, only to have both Caillan and Lisa scream at me when I came back a few hours later and the news mailbox was filled with at least fifty UPN questions. At the moment they're still coming in at a rate of close to one per minute, and I shudder to think how many mails there'll be tomorrow morning. Or worse, tomorrow afternoon, when I'll have the unenviable task of reading through all the emails to make a selection of the questions.

Trek Two Years Ago

Below are some of the most important headlines that appeared on TrekToday on Sunday the 30th of May, 1999:

  • Rick Berman On Trek's Future - Speaking to USA Today, Star Trek's executive producer said he felt it would be beneficial for Voyager to be the only Trek show on the air, and said it was very important "to keep Star Trek fresh and not overextend it." He also said there were no plans to make DS9 mvoies. "Saturating the market with another franchise of movies might not be wise at the moment."

  • A Sequel For 'Trekkies?' - Roger Nygard and Denise Crosby (Tasha Yar), the team behind the 'Trekkies' documentary, talked about the tentative plans for 'Trekkies 2.' Two years down the road, no new info on this sequel has surfaced.

  • Friday Finale Screening Details - Two days earlier, the second screening of the Deep Space Nine finale had taken place, in the presence of people such as Marc Alaimo (Gul Dukat), Casey Biggs (Damar) and Jeffrey Combs (Weyoun).
