Colm Meaney to play opposite Michael Sheen in The Damned United.

As reported by icwales.icnetwork.co.uk, Meaney will play Don Revie, former Leeds United football manager. Sheen will play Brian Clough. Revie and Clough were bitter rivals.

The Damned United, set in 1974, will tell the story of Clough's forty-four day tenure as the manager of Leeds United. Clough had previously been a critic of Revie (Colm Meaney), who preceded him, and Leeds United. Clough was fired after alienating many of Leeds United's star players.

Meaney spoke recently about his Star Trek days are reported by redorbit.com. "I was never actually a fan of Star Trek and, you know, science fiction would not have been my favourite genre," he said. "I never really developed an interest in it. Don't get me wrong, we had a great crew and a great cast and I had a great time doing the show."

According to Meaney, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine was a quality show. "We did twenty-six episodes a year for seven years and there were maybe three or four duds in a year which wasn't bad," he said. "But after seven years it was a perfect time to quit, walk away and do other things."
