Hello World!

Well, for the first time in over a month, it's just me again at the site. It's definitely feeling strange again having to do all the news on my own, and I eventually didn't even get to all of the news that was out there - in particular I missed some of the 'Repression' retrospectives, they should be up sometime this evening.

Meanwhile, I figured I'd reintroduce an old thing I sometimes had in 'Hello World!' earlier this year, namely the 'link of the day'. I noticed there were quite a few sites in my bookmarks which I enjoy reading a lot, but which aren't really very high-profile sites - the hidden gems of the web, so to speak. Over the next couple of days, I'll be posting this list of links, and after that if you also send in suggestions I might even post yours. Here's the first one:

Link of the Day: The War Against Silence is actually the site that inspired me to start this, as webmaster Glenn McDonald recently posted a belated introduction to his site, so this seems like a good time to link to it. TWAS is easily my favourite music review site, containing weekly looks at the webmaster's favourite CDs. I actually arrived there via a link on the Roxette mailing list, but since then the site has managed to hook me onto several other artists - I bought my first CDs of Sarah McLachlan, the Manic Street Preachers, Melanie C and Bellatrix partly because of this site. Be sure to check it out.

Happy Birthday!

I'm surprised Amy, as a big fan of Robert Picardo (the Holodoc), forgot to mention this yesterday, but it was actually the the 47th birthday of the Voyager actor yesterday. If you'd like to leave birthday wishes for the actor, the official Central Alliance Of Robert Picardo Enthusiasts has opened its guestbook for birthday wishes, which will later be forwarded on to the actor.
