'Trekkies' Sequel Coming

Brian Kenner at the Movie Insider has put up an interview with Roger Nygard, director of the 'Trekkies' documentary. Nygard recently also produced 'Six Days In Roswell', a documentary about UFO fanatics, and the interview deals mostly with these two films. One of the things he reveals is that there will likely be a sequel to the Star Trek documentary:

Question: How is the Trekkies DVD selling?

Answer: Very well. It seems like the kind of product that will keep on going over the years due to the cult following that it is attracting.

Question: If DVD sales were high enough, would you do a sequel? Even a direct to video would be better than nothing.

Answer: I'm sure the question is not "if," but "when." I'd like to start the project moving forward in 2001. It would be fun to do updates on our original profilees, find some new ones, as well as focus on foreign fans.

In the full interview, Nygard talks more about the film's DVD version, as well as about his inspiration for the film. To find out more about 'Trekkies', which was of course hosted by Denise Crosby (Tasha Yar), please visit the official site.
