The Sci-Fi Channel has announced a 2006 debut date for Screw-On Head, a new half-hour comedy written by former Star Trek: Voyager writer Bryan Fuller.

Screw-On Head is based on the Amazing Screw-On Head comic book series by Mike Mignola, who will be working as art director on the project. According to the Sci-Fi Wire, the series revolves around the adventures of a robot secret agent employed by Abraham Lincoln. In the first episode of the series, Screw-On Head faces off against his arch-nemesis (and former manservant) Emperor Zombie, and then goes on to do battle with others who threaten our civilization.

The series will feature famous voice talent such as Sideways' Paul Giamatti, who's playing Screw-On Head himself, Frasier's David Hyde Pierce, playing Zombie, and Saturday Night Live's Molly Shannon as Screw's love interest, Patience the Vampire. The series has currently started production, and will launch on the Sci-Fi Channel sometime next year.

Bryan Fuller worked on Star Trek: Voyager during its final four seasons, writing episodes such as "Drone," "Fury" and "Friendship One," as well as contributing to the DS9 episode "Empok Nor." He later went on to create TV shows such as Dead Like Me and Wonderfalls, and over the past year worked on both Screw-On Head and The Assistants, an hour-long NBC comedy that went to pilot but was apparently never picked up for a full series (story).

More information on Screw-On Head can be found in the original article on the Sci-Fi Wire.
