Hello World!

One tip: if you're on a diet, do not eat Sudanese food. One of my neighbours is from Sudan, and he had invited to cook for me and a few other friends today. This isn't the first time he has done so, and in the past I've already eaten things such as 'grazza' (extremely thick pancakes), but what we had today really made that pale in comparison. He'd told us we'd start out with chicken soup, but all we saw was a big pan filled with meat, and so it came to be that for the first time in my life I had a chicken soup which actually included one chicken per person. After that came a sugared rice special, which was apparently cooked for three hours in milk and at least a kilo sugar, so after two spoons and with that chicken helping I was completely filled up. Unfortunately 'no, thanks' in Sudan seems to mean 'Yes, I'm starving' so I was in for another round. I've actually already bought some snacks for the football match tomorrow, but in all likelihood I'll still be working on digesting today's diner.

Poll Results

Below are the results of the most recent TrekToday poll:

Who's your favourite Captain?
Jean-Luc Picard 30.5% - (420 Votes)
Kathryn Janeway 24.8% - (342 Votes)
James T. Kirk 20.3% - (280 Votes)
Benjamin Sisko 18.9% - (261 Votes)
Mackenzie Calhoun 3.4% - (48 Votes)
Hikaru Sulu 1.7% - (24 Votes)

Total Votes: 1375

How ironic to see a poll I started purely out of lack of inspiration become one of the most popular polls ever. Some interesting results, too - the sudden surge in Janeway votes is surprising, considering she was trailing the pack most of the time, but apparently she's also got many fans.

Of course, after the success of this poll I thought we might as well continue the series, so the new poll is asking you who your favourite first officer is:

Happy Birthday!

Today is the 46th birthday of Alice Krige, who appeared in 'Star Trek: First Contact' as the Borg Queen.
