FX Company Looks To 'Enterprise'

Having worked on everything from Voyager's spectacular ice-planet crash in 'Timeless' to the Delta Flyer sitting in the shuttlebay, the Foundation Imaging special effects team is keen to continue its association with the Trek franchise.

"Everything's very hush hush [about the new series]," Visual Effects Supervisor Rob Bonchune told the British Star Trek Monthly Magazine (via Trek Galaxy). "You know, we're guessing that, of course, they're going to use the companies that they've always used. Indeed, the [series] effects people have more or less said, 'That seems reasonable to us, too.'"

Despite the secrecy, Bonchune was hopeful of working on Enterprise. "It's all very closed right now," he said, "so we just don't know. We're working on the assumption that we will be involved; that's what we're hoping for."

Bonchune also expressed his desire to work on the next Trek feature film. "Everything's in limbo about all that stuff," he said. "They haven't even started on that as to who's going to do what [on Star Trek X]. So that's not even in the ballpark right now. But we're going to lobby hard, obviously, to grab a part of it at least."

The full article, in which Bonchune and his colleagues talk about their favourite work on Voyager, can be found here at Trek Galaxy.
