'Voyager' Arrives On DVD in UK Next Week

Star Trek: Voyager arrives in DVD in the U.K. next week, with the first season boxed set to be released on May 3rd.

Like the U.S. release, the set will include such features as a documentary on Genevieve Bujold's brief tenure as Janeway, a "Time Capsule" segment with Kate Mulgrew (who, of course, later played the captain) discussing everything from her audition process through her perception of the character, and interviews with other cast members about their reflections upon the series' first year.

The DVD set also includes features on the Kazon villains, the visual effects of Voyager's inaugural season, and a discussion of Star Trek science with Andre Bormanis.

Like its initial run on television, the first season arrived to mixed reviews on DVD in the U.S., with most reviewers feeling that the episodes have held up well, but expressing frustration with the limited DVD commentary by actors and directors.

Episodes include the pilot, "Caretaker", as well as such critically acclaimed episodes as "State of Flux" and "Jetrel". The show's first broadcast season was abbreviated, so there are fewer episodes in the initial set than will be available in later sets.

The first season of Voyager on DVD will be available on Monday from Amazon.co.uk. It has already been released by Amazon.com and Amazon.ca.
