Hello World!

As I had lent out my bike to someone, this afternoon I had to borrow a friend's bike to go to the supermarket. Besides the awkardness of riding on a women's bike (somehow getting on them always feels strange) and the lack of any gears (meaning I also almost died from exhaustion due to having to pedal so much), this bike also doesn't have any hand breaks. Which I discovered when I reached a (red) traffic-light and automatically stretched my hands to press the breaks. Instead I just nearly fell over my steer as I was grasping empty space, which is not an experience you want to have as you're two meters away from a crossing with twenty cars all more than willing to make mincemeat of me. Fortunately, as I saw my life flashing by, I also went through childhood again for a split-second, remembering the backpedal-brakes I used to have back then. Three centimeters before said twenty cars my bike screeched to a halt.

I should get a car. Or maybe a tank.
