Visitor 'Open' To DS9 Movie

Nana Visitor (Kira Nerys) has no doubt a Star Trek: Deep Space Nine film would be fantastic — but doesn't see it happening any time soon.

"I think our characters would be so good on film," Visitor told Jeremy Conrad at IGN DVD. "Really good. We're all actors who can hit. And I would definitely be open."

After the cool box office reception for 'Star Trek Nemesis,' franchise head Rick Berman has hinted that the next trek to the silver screen might feature cast members from more than one series. But Visitor doesn't think the DS9 crew will be called up for duty again. "I truthfully don't think it's going to happen. I don't think they'll go to us for the next movie."

With a DS9 feature a distant dream, the actress is ambivalent about returning to the Star Trek fold with a guest appearance on Enterprise. "I have to say that intellectually, I'd totally be open to that. I'd love to be a Bolian or something like that. But emotionally, it would be really hard to be on a set that I didn't consider my own in Star Trek. I don't know, emotionally it would be hard."

Visitor currently has other plans for her acting career, including preparing for a show and a return to TV. "I tell you, secretly, there's a show that I have a hankering to do, so I'm going to start just training even though no one has expressed any interest at all," she said, laughing, "it's a way that I keep myself going. I'm just going to start getting my chops up for that, although I don't expect to do it anytime soon, it's like a fun little project for me. I want to do TV. I'd love to do a half hour, I wouldn't be opposed to doing an hour, but I definitely want to TV right now."

The full interview, in which Visitor also talked about winning the role of Kira Nerys, can be found here at IGN DVD. Thanks to LowerDecks for this!
