Jeri Ryan (Seven of Nine) will appear in the season finale of Boston Legal, playing a reality television series host who shoots a stalker.

The Futon Critic reported that Ryan - who starred for several years on producer David E. Kelley's Boston Public as a lawyer turned teacher - will play reality TV star Courtney Rae in the two-hour season finale of Kelley's Boston Legal, which stars William Shatner (Captain Kirk) and Rene Auberjonois (Odo).

Ryan's character, "the beautiful, sexy hostess of The Phoenix, a fictional reality television series", is charged with attempted murder after she shoots an aggressive newspaper reporter who has been invading her privacy. The episode will air Tuesday, May 16th from 9:00-11:00 p.m. Eastern time on ABC.

Both Shatner and James Spader have won Emmy Awards for Boston Legal, which follows a group of attorneys in the law firm of Crane, Poole and Schmidt as they confront the social and legal injustices facing their clients. Shatner plays Denny Crane; Candice Bergen plays Shirley Schmidt.

The series often makes joking references to Star Trek and to events from the lives of its stars. During last night's episode, for instance, Denny complained that he felt his greatest songs had gone unsung and were trapped inside him like a kidney stone - nods to Shatner's singing career and to the medical emergency that sent the actor to a hospital several months ago. Denny's cell phone beeps like a communicator and he has mentioned Klingons and said "I'm the Captain!" on the show.
