James Darren Still Singing From The Heart

By Caillan

James Darren (Vic Fontaine) proved that he still has the right stuff when he wowed the audience last weekend at a free concert held in Marina Del Rey, California.

Backed by the Gregg Field Big Band, Darren performed several numbers from his new CD, 'Because Of You' as well as old favourites from 'This One's From The Heart'. Many of these were performed by Darren on Deep Space Nine, including 'Come Fly With Me,' 'I've Got You Under My Skin' and 'The Best Is Yet To Come.'

Whilst onstage, Darren thanked DS9 executive producer Ira Steven Behr for casting him on the series, reviving his singing career, which had lain dormant for some twenty years. Behr apparently told the performer "You've gotta start singing on stage again, you're having way too much fun."

After the performance, Darren signed autographs and posed for photos with fans. TrekToday contributor Michael J. Fijolek attended the concert, and managed to take these photos of Darren in action.
