De Lancie Wins Villainous Role On 'SU2'

Having played Q on Trek for the past fourteen years, John de Lancie will soon be adding another one-letter character to his resume.

De Lancie will guest star as the nefarious Y in the fifth episode of Special Unit 2's second season, Zap2it reported. SU2's second season debuts on October 3 and will follow Enterprise on Wednesday nights, airing at 9pm.

Y is the leader of the "Links," a "malicious, paranormal species" that represent the missing link between mankind and beasts. These monsters are the scourge of Special Unit 2, part of the Chicago police force.

The series debuted in April this year as a mid-season replacement for Seven Days, which has now been cancelled. After only six episodes, it was thought that SU2 itself would be pulled, but UPN renewed the series for a second season. It is not currently known whether de Lancie's character will be making further appearances on the show this year.

In addition to his role as Q on TNG, DS9 and Voyager, de Lancie has also guest-starred on series such as Gene Roddenberry's Andromeda, Stargate: SG-1, and The West Wing. Together with Leonard Nimoy (Spock), de Lancie formed Alien Voices, a company dedicated to bringing science-fiction classics alive through audio dramas.
