Former Enterprise staff writer Mike Sussman has signed on to Threshold as a writer and Supervising Producer for the series, which was recently picked up by CBS for the fall schedule.

Sussman told TrekToday that he will be joining Trek veterans such as Brannon Braga, one of the show's creators and executive producers, and Brent Spiner (Data), who will be playing the role of Dr. Nigel Fenway on the freshman drama. The show was picked up for the fall season by CBS last Wednesday (story), and the network has already launched an official website for the drama here.

Sussman is enthusiastic about the idea for the show, which revolves around a team of scientists who discover an extra terrestrial craft in the Atlantic ocean and come to suspect an alien invasion will follow. "I thought it was the best of all the genre pilots the networks were considering this year," he told TrekToday. "It had a very Tom Clancy approach to an alien invasion, grounded in politics and reality, and that really appealed to me. I'm excited to be a part of it."

In addition to Spiner, the show stars Carla Gugino (Sin City), Charles S. Dutton (Gothika), Robert Patrick Benedict (Felicity), Brian Van Holt (House of Wax) and Peter Dinklage (The Station Agent). David S. Goyer (Blade: Trinity) and David Heyman (the Harry Potter movies) share co-producing credits with Braga.

The show is scheduled to air at 9:00pm on Friday nights and is paired with Jennifer Love Hewitt's supernatural drama, Ghost Whisperer, which airs an hour earlier. CBS's drama Numb3rs, which is entering its second season, follows Threshold at 10pm.
