Hello World!

I can feel the great void left by Voyager already. I'm yet to see the finale and I miss it. Indeed, I think I'll miss it less after I've seen the episode, if that makes any kind of sense.

I've met so many great people thanks to one little television show, that I'll miss it dearly. Thanks for all the email, Voyager. ;)

The show may be over, but there's certainly still life in Voyager yet. If like me, you're fighting the post-Voyager blues, try some of my suggestions. Each one has been personally tried and tested by me, but neither me nor TrekToday accepts any responsibility for unexpected side effects:

  • Why not try the the TV Guide Voyager Quiz and see how much you really know about their seven year odyssey through space. If you get a question wrong, you can use that as an excuse to re-watch the whole of season 3 on video for the 47th time.

  • Drown yourself in Fan Fiction. Janeway fans can find solace in the stories of m.c moose and those who fancy something from early on in Voyager's journey should try a fan fiction classic, the Talking Stick, Circle series. Failing that, there's always this site I found lying around somewhere to help you out...

  • If the phrase All Your Base Are Belong To Us means anything to you, go laugh your socks off at Kitty K's Voyager tribute. Thanks Kitty!

  • Go blast some Borg/Seven of Nine/Neelix/Chakotay in the Star Trek: Voyager Elite Force PC Game.

  • Watch Counterpoint for the 47 millionth time.

  • Write columns on the internet where everyone is forced to listen to you droning on endlessly about the end of Voyager.

  • Eat chocolate and drink coffee.

Trek Two Years Ago

Below is a selection of headline news stories from Trek Today on 25th May, 1999:

  • 'Insurrection' Behind the Scenes Book Cancelled

An interesting report surfaced that a book written by Michael Piller about the making of 'Star Trek: Insurrection' had been "muzzled from within Paramount." Piller of course, wrote the film, which performed below expectations at the box-office. Unofficial reports suggested that studio executives decided to block the publication of the book so as not to "provide ravenous fans with ammunition to discredit its decision-making" during film's production.

  • O'Brien to Join Voyager?

An interview with Colm Meaney raised an interesting rumour, thanks to the following comment from the actor:

"It will be a while before I get into a space suit again," Meaney says. But if they make him Ryan's romantic interest? "That's tempting ... that might swing it, actually. She looks great."

Of course, two days after the airing of the Voyager series finale *sniffle* we know that this was merely a case of over-zealous news reporting.

  • The Site Suffers Server Problems

Two years later, no change there then ;)

Back in the olden days of yore, the site wasn't happily hosted on Simon here; which is the name by which I refer to the Trek Nation server. Its real name is actually LCARS, but that isn't really a satisfying name to screech at the computer when it doesn't behave properly. Besides, I think "Simon the Server" is a cool name.
