Kate Mulgrew on Fox & Friends Appearing on the 'Fox & Friends' talk show this morning, Kate Mulgrew (Kathryn Janeway) confirmed internet rumours that Alice Krige will appear in the Voyager series finale to reprise her role as the Borg Queen from 'Star Trek: First Contact.'

"The Queen? I just worked with her," Mulgrew said when asked about the TNG movies. "Boy, she's marvelous, Alice Krige. There's some great stuff with her in the finale."

Krige's performance in 'First Contact' was met with great approval, but unfortunately other comments prevented her from returning as the Borg Queen for Voyager's 'Dark Frontier,' for which she was replaced with Susanna Thompson. It is unknown whether this time around Thompson was unavailable or simply whether the producers preferred to engage in some stunt casting for the Voyager finale.

Before Mulgrew appeared on the show, a short segment was shown from tonight's new episode, 'Friendship One,' in which Tom Paris, Neelix and Joe Carey are held hostage by an alien race who believe Earth weapons caused the nuclear war that devastated their planet. Here's a transcript of the clip:

[Kathryn Janeway on the bridge, together with Tuvok and Chakotay.]
Janeway: "This is Captain Kathryn Janeway. Who am I speaking with?"
[Down on the planet, Verin activates a communication device.]
Verin: "My name is Verin. Your crewmen are my prisoners.
[The camera pans to show the Voyager crewmembers in the background.]
Janeway: "What is it you want?"
[Verin walks through the cave, passing others of his race, all infected with radiation disease, and Neelix, Paris and Carey.]
Verinb: "I want you to get us off this planet. Find us a new home."
Janeway: "Release my crewmen and we can talk about it."
Verin: "No more talking! Your people won't be safe until mine are."
Janeway: "Listen, I don't respond well to threats."

There also was room for some lighter entertainment in the segment, and this consisted of the 'Stump the Star' quiz, in which Mulgrew was asked Trek trivia questions.

The Voyager star easily got the first question right, being asked to name the Captains on the other three Trek series. Unfortunately, she got the next questions wrong, guessing that 300 Star Trek books were sold every minute rather than 13 and that it would take 50 rather than 20 days to watch the episodes from all Trek series combined. When asked which of her co-stars had been named one of the 50 most beautiful people by People Magazine, she guessed Robert Duncan McNeill (Tom Paris), Patrick Stewart (Jean-Luc Picard) and Tim Russ (Tuvok) before being told the correct answer, Garrett Wang (Harry Kim).

After these questions, Mulgrew joked that they should retitle the game 'Stump the Stupid Star,' and said that the worst thing was that she was making Trek look back by guessing too high. But the hosts gave her a chance to redeem herself by asking her an impromptu question, 'Which is the best Star Trek series?,' and naturally she was able to get that right.

The full segment, in which Mulgrew talked about the mixed feelings she had about the show's ending and about the appreciation she had for Star Trek fandom, has been digitised by Voyager's Delights, and can be downloaded in RealPlayer format by going here.

In related news, Mulgrew's appearance on the Rosie O'Donnel Show has been pushed back to Thursday. Thanks go out to the many people who sent us in news submissions about this, including 'monkee', Brian Cahill, John and Mary Jo Tenuto, Doug Wilson and Geordi Padovan!
