SFX Reader Awards Results

By Amy

The results of this year’s SFX magazine Readers Awards are out, and the results on the Star Trek front are rather mixed. Gene Roddenberry’s ‘Andromeda’ also gets a few mentions, unfortunately none of those good.

Perhaps most bizarrely, Voyager managed to come in at number 5 over all as the 'Best Improved TV Show' and 6th overall in the 'Best TV Show' category and yet poll in as the second worst show. They were pipped out of that particular number one spot by gene Rodenberry’s Andromeda, but recaptured it, unfortunately for the worst line of dialogue.

On the individual actor front, most of the news is positive, however. Voyager’s Robert Picardo (the Doctor), polled in at number 6 as the 'Best Actor', while Jeri Ryan managed to pull both number 10 in the 'Best Actress' category and number 8 as 'Sexiest Woman'. The Next Generation’s Patrick Stewart, with his appearance in the ‘X-Men’ movie walked off at second position for 'Best SF/Fantasy Film Actor' and tenth as 'Sexiest Man'. The other winner of note is Voyager’s Robert Beltran, who took out line honours as 'Biggest Whinger', a category that, if the editor remembers correctly, was actually instigated on his behalf.
