Though a lot of creative talent left the Star Trek franchise seemingly for good when 'Star Trek: Deep Space Nine' ended, it seems part of that team is returning home again, as the official Star Trek site has announced Herman Zimmerman has also begun work on the new series.

The site confirmed the earlier report that Enterprise-E co-designer John Eaves has joined Series V, saying that he has been named Senior Illustrator. Herman Zimmerman has joined the product as Production Designer/Illustrator, a position he also held on 'The Next Generation', 'Deep Space Nine' and every Star Trek movie since 'Star Trek V: The Final Frontier'.

Over the many years Zimmerman has spent on Star Trek, he has been responsible for quite a few important designs, including the 'Deep Space Nine' space station, the Enterprise-E, and the Ba'ku village in 'Insurrection', as well as consulting on the design of the Star Trek Experience in Las Vegas. Together with Rick Sternbach and Doug Drexler, he also wrote the really fun Deep Space Nine Technical Manual.

The original StarTrek.com report can be found here. More production news on the next series will undoubtedly be coming out over the next few weeks or months, as we begin the countdown to the expected Fall premiere.
