Hollywood Reporter Gene Roddenberry Ad

Nine years ago today, Star Trek fans all over the world were shocked when Gene Roddenberry passed away, after a short period of illness.

Hollywood Reporter Ad As last year, Thursday's edition of the Hollywood Reporter featured a full-page ad remembering Gene Roddenberry, consisting of a photo of the Great Bird, accompanied by the words "A Kinder, Better and More Gentle World - His Vision Lives". Also as last year, the ad doesn't include any mention of who placed it, but likely it was either Paramount Pictures or Majel Barrett-Roddenberry. For a full-sized version of the picture, please click here - thanks go out to Jeff Koga for scanning it in.

Of course, even though Gene's death is now nine years ago, the ad is still very much true - with Star Trek, Earth: Final Conflict and Andromeda all going strong, his vision still lives on and is still able to capture new fans. He is still missed.
