Captain Picard fans who aren't willing to pay for all seven seasons of The Next Generation on DVD will soon be able to pick up a DVD package focusing on the uniform-tugging commanding officer himself.

Star Trek: The Next Generation — The Picard Box Set is currently scheduled to be released on August 3 in Region 1 (North America), according to TV Shows On DVD. The package will contain seven episodes which showcase the very best of the Enterprise-D captain's adventures, as well as From Here To Infinity, hosted by actor Patrick Stewart.

The Region 2 (Europe) version of the package has been available to buy from September, 2003. The episodes included on that set were: "Allegiance", "Captain's Holiday", "Darmok", "The Inner Light", "Starship Mine", "Lessons", and "Bloodlines". Extra features from the TNG season box sets, such as mission overview from season six and a crew analyis from season three, were also incorporated into the Region 2 package. It is not yet known whether the Region 1 set will contain these same episodes and featurettes.

From Here To Infinity, which will definitely be included in the Region 1 set, is a 1994 documentary which takes a look at the solar system and the universe at large. Patrick Stewart guides viewers through phenomena such as supernovas, black holes and a great wall of galaxies 325,000,000 light years across.
