Activision Drops Verant For Online Trek RPG

Well-Rounded Entertainment is reporting that Verant and Activision have ended their previously announced relationship to create a multiplayer-only Star Trek game. This game was first announced back in February in a conference call with analysts, and forecast some extremely ambitious subscription numbers.

Just a few days ago, Verant announced it would be creating a massively multiplayer 'Star Wars' game for LucasArts. Presumably, Activision wasn't comfortable with Verant dividing its attention between two RPGs based on very similar franchises.

Verant is the company also responsible for the extremely successful 'Everquest' online game. It is not yet known which company will replace Verant for the Trek game. You can read the original report on this here.
