Hello World!

I'm sure this will come as no surprise to the people following my luck in buying electronics, but I still haven't got a cellular phone, despite throwing away most of the day yesterday. This time I went to the town where my parents live, as there the particular phone I want was still available. At 2, I arrived in the shop, and I actually thought things were finally going as they should have - I'd filled in the entire contract, they'd made copies of my passport, and I even already paid for the phone. Within two hours, I would be able to pick everything up. Of course, when I came back to the store three hours later, I could not.

What happened this time around was that my contract was actually rejected by Dutchtone, the telephone company, as the address on my contract didn't match the address on my bank account note. This was because my actualy mail address is a post-office box, and in three separate stores I had been told you couldn't enter those as your address in the contract. Of course, when I called Dutchtone they mentioned that was no problem at all, but the people in the store still claimed Dutchtone had always told them otherwise. Anyway, as it was five minutes to closing time, meaning they wouldn't have time anymore to send the new contract to Dutchtone and have it approved, I got my money back, and will be trying in Utrecht again today. At least this time the store is located near the bookstore, so it won't cost too much of my time.

I probably should have just waited for the weekend to do this, as that would have been a bit less stressful, but I really need that phone - one of the features it has is an infrared connection, so I can surf the internet with my laptop even when I'm not near a telephone cable, and that's something I need if I want to go on a holiday and still be able to update TrekToday. Of course, I'll first also need to get the laptop back running, but I figure it would be pushing it to try to get both a phone and a working laptop at the same time.
