Trek X Never Offered To Frakes

Jonathan Frakes (Will Riker) said today that we was never given the option to direct 'Star Trek X: Nemesis.'

"I was never offered it. I was surprised," Frakes told Cinescape. The Next Generation actor directed the two previous feature films - 'First Contact' and 'Insurrection.'

Despite not sitting in the director's chair, Frakes was still enthusiastic about the film. "It's actually going to be a fabulous movie, 'Nemesis'," he said. "It's back to the great, big action adventure galactic stakes with Picard on the Enterprise coming to save the day. It's old Star Trek, it's big. It's a war movie."

The actor does not agree with rumours that Trek X will be the final Next Generation movie. "I think only if it doesn't do well. I think unfortunately, or fortunately, the reality in Hollywood is if your movie makes money they'll make another one. And I think that's true of Star Trek as well," he explained.

Frakes also talked about one of the plot points that involved Riker in the film. "I can tell you that I finally do get to marry the beautiful Counsellor Troi. That much I'll leak," he said.
