UPN has premiered the trailer for Star Trek: Enterprise's "Babel One", which airs next Friday night.

In this first installment of a multi=part story, written by Michael Sussman & Andre Bormanis, planned peace talks between the Andorians and Tellarites are interrupted by a distress call from Shran and the presence of an unseen disruptive force. David Straiton directed the episode.

The 30-second promo is available for download online courtesy of Sci Fi Universe. For those with slower connections, here's a transcript:

[Shran and Archer drink a toast.]

[Text: 'INTERPLANETARY RELATIONS']
[Talas, in a skimpy pink outfit, stands in a doorway with her arm stretched out suggestively.]
[The Andorian female leans close to an Enterprise crewmember.]
Talas: "I've never had relations with a member of your species."

...CAN BE VERY INTENSE.

[The music turns more ominous.]
[Shran and a Tellarite face each other across a conference table with Archer observing.]
[Shran rises furiously to his feet.]
[Archer and other crewmembers intervene as Shran and the Andorian take swings at one another.]
[Sato speaks to Archer in his ready room.]
Sato: "You have to respond in kind. Otherwise they'll take offense."
[A Tellarite approaches Archer, who stands with T'Pol, Sato and other crew members.]
Archer: "You people are even uglier than I remember."
[Archer and the Tellarite shake hands.]

NOW THEY'RE PUPPETS OF A MYSTERIOUS FORCE THAT PITS SPECIES AGAINST SPECIES.

[A humanoid in what appears to be a virtual reality suit manipulates circuits.]
[Shran, with Talas and Phlox behind him, speaks to Archer in the medical bay.]
Shran: "There will be bloodshed."
[Shran falls as an explosion rocks his ship.]
[Shran aims a phase pistol at a Tellarite.]
