Hello World!

What is it with a country who's typical relationship with water is apparently trying various expensive methods to keep it out producing two Olympic gold medallists in swimming? Not that I really mind… Hoogie (Peter van den Hoogenband) and his female counterpart, Queen Inky (Inge de Bruijn) seem like nice people - and have given us aussies a wake-up call (and no, I didn't give them those nick-names, they have been named thusly by the local press).

But, now away from sport, and into one of my other all-consuming-but-rather-more-expensive past-times - computer games. Last night I finally managed to get my hands on a copy of the 'Elite Force' demo - you may recall that I spent a good portion of yesterday tracking down reviews of the damn thing - and I loved it, in true Voyager style succeeding in averting a warp-core-breach with only one second to go. Another game, however, that I'm rather less happy with at the moment, is that incredibly addictive game called 'The Sims'. I don't have a problem with the actually game play but the Livin' Large expansion pack I forked out 40 ill-afforded dollars for refuses to work, despite downloading the install-fixer after it didn't work the first time and repeatedly hammering the machine and threatening it with a bucket of water after it didn't work the second time. Add that to the fact that it also refuses to use any of the skins I spent ages downloading (is it a crime to want to set up the Voyager crew as one big happy family on your computer? I think not)...

I told you I'd be complaining about things. But did you listen? No… Mind you, since those who d read this column are no doubt familiar with Christian's lap-top saga (something which I should be embarking upon myself in the near future), this is probably small cheese. But now, onto the BBS.
