Co-Star Bale Thinks Crowe Should Play Klingon

Russell Crowe still isn't talking about appearing in the eleventh Star Trek film, but his 3:10 to Yuma co-star, Christian Bale, thinks he should play a Klingon.

The two were interviewed together by IGN about the Western, and an IGN interviewer asked Crowe about the rumour - first reported by IGN earlier this month (story) - that Paramount was hoping to land Academy Award winner Crowe to play the new Star Trek movie's villain.

Asked about the reports, Crowe was dismissive, saying, "I haven't read anything."

But current Batman Bale, who was sitting beside Crowe, jokingly covered his mouth and loudly whispered, "Klingon! Klingon!"

Even if he were offered the villain role and wished to play it, Crowe is scheduled to shoot the films Nottingham and Body of Lies in coming months, so it is unclear whether he could play a major character in the Star Trek film scheduled to begin filming later this year. But with rumours rampant that his friend Tom Cruise may do a cameo for director J.J. Abrams, could Crowe be considering donning a prosthetic forehead?

The interview, both text and video, is here.
