Robert Picardo (the EMH) is popping up everywhere this season — Stargate SG-1, The Lyon's Den and now, The West Wing.

Picardo will guest star in an upcoming episode of NBC's White House drama series, according to his official web site. The episode, entitled "The Supremes", has no firm airdate yet, but will likely be shown in March.

Sharing the screen with Picardo will be Oscar-nominated actress Glenn Close, who has also signed to guest-star in "The Supremes". Close recently joined forces with another Star Trek alumnus, Patrick Stewart (Jean-Luc Picard) in the cable TV movie, The Lion in Winter.

Based on West Wing spoilers available at the West Wing Continuity Guide, "The Supremes" is likely to be the previously-untitled seventeenth episode of the season. In the outing, President Bartlet and his staffers are reportedly considering judges for a vacant seat on the Supreme Court bench.

Several Star Trek alumni have dropped by the Oval Office during The West Wing's run. John Billingsley (Dr. Phlox) played a cartographer in the season two episode "Somebody's Going to Emergency, Somebody's Going to Jail", while Steven Culp (Major Hayes) was featured in the recurring role of Jeff Haffley, the Republican Speaker of the House. Appearances have also been made by James Cromwell (Zephram Cochrane), Rosalind Chao (Keiko O'Brien) and Vaughn Armstrong (Admiral Forrest), among others.

The original news can be found here at Robert Picardo's official web site. Thanks to Jenny Schoenfeld for this!
