Showtime yesterday announced it has ordered a two-hour pilot from former Voyager writer-producer Bryan Fuller, entitled 'Dead Girl.'

The series chronicles the adventures of an under-achieving 18-year-old girl who is killed in a freak accident and returns to Earth as a 'grim reaper,' Zap2it reported.

Her task is to remove the souls of people once they have died, but in the process she becomes entagled in the day-to-day lives of the people she vists. In this way, the girl learns the true meaning of life.

Showtime has ordered a two-hour pilot and several additional scripts for the series, which is to be produced by MGM Television Entertainment. If 'Dead Girl' is picked up, it could repleace the recently-canclled Showtime series Leap Years or Going to California.

Fuller has written for both Deep Space Nine and Voyager; he also served as executive story editor and co-producer on the latter series. His episodes included 'Empok Nor,' 'Living Witness,' 'Drone,' 'Barge of the Dead' and 'Flesh and Blood.'
