Hello World!

Last weekend my famil committed an error that we have committed once before, namely: entering a Petco on the day the SPCA was there with kittens. This is how we got our auxiliary cat Cinnamon, and now we also have Daisy, an adorable half-calico, half-tabby who was flirting with us from the moment we entered the store. We couldn't bring her home for a couple of days so she could be spayed and treated for worms and ear mites just in case - common problems among shelter cats. The foster mom suggested keeping her apart from our cats for a week...which worked for, oh, maybe three hours, until Cinnamon discovered that she could jump the baby gate we had up in the bedroom doorway.

However, Cinnamon's reaction to meeting Daisy was to mewl pathetically, back into a corner and then flee the room! She has been hiding down the basement like a big scaredy cat. I don't know whether this is because Daisy is currently residing in my bedroom, which is Cinnamon's domain for most of the day, or if Daisy smells funny to her because of the sutures. Rosie, our older cat reacted much more to form...ignoring Daisy entirely until she discovered that Daisy gets to eat rich kitten food, then trying to hiss and take over the food dish. Daisy was not intimidated! She spent most of her first afternoon at home chasing a long lanyard-type cat toy before falling asleep in the middle of the carpet, ignoring the cat bed. Figures.
