Stewart On Nemesis Difficulties

Patrick Stewart (Jean Luc Picard) spoke candidly recently about the difficulties of working with a director without a Star Trek pedigree on 'Nemesis.'

"Sometimes it was an advantage, in taking a fresh approach," the actor told Entertainment Weekly. "And sometimes someone had to step up and say, 'Um, that isn't gonna work.'

"More than once, [director Stewart Baird] would actually refer to LeVar Burton's character as an alien, which didn't go down too well with LeVar," Stewart continued.

The actor also commented on rumours that Trek X will be the final TNG movie. "If this is the end of 'The Next Generation,' it’s actually a beautiful and appropriate ending, he said. "There is complete closure on 'Next Generation' in this movie."

More comments from Stewart can be found here at the Entertainment Weekly web site. Thanks to Ellis Richardson for this news!
