Nimoy To Receive Honourary Degree

By Christian
August 21, 2000 - 6:21 PM

This fall, Leonard Nimoy (Spock) will be receiving an honourary degree from Antioch University's McGregor School in Ohio. The school is part of a university system also including campuses in New Hampshire, Los Angeles and Seattle, among apparently others.

In 1978, Nimoy earned a master's degree in education from an Antioch branch campus in Austin, Texas. The actor was quoted as saying he is "very touched, very flattered and deeply honored" by the decision from his alma mater.

According to Barbara Gellman-Danley, president of Antioch's McGregor School branch in Yellow Springs, she nominated the Trek actor for his efforts to refute arguments against the existence of the Holocaust.
