The Sci-Fi Channel will air a new movie starring Jeffrey Combs (Weyoun/Brunt/Shran), Abominable, tonight at 9 p.m. Eastern time.

"Lance Henriksen and Jeffrey Combs are genre icons, and for good reason," said director Ryan Schifrin to Sci Fi Wire. "They can take the words on the page and make them better than you had imagined." The film is about group of vacationing college students menaced by a Sasquatch who are helped by a paralyzed man.

Schifrin said that it was nice to have two famous genre actors in Abominable but he wanted them mainly "because they are damn good actors. I couldn't be more proud of the performances they gave." He described himself as a "horror geek" and said he grew up idolising many of the cast members.

"For Jeff's character, I had written a description of him being this grizzled gas station owner," added Schifrin. "Jeff and I had a meeting before filming, and he started bringing up ideas. He came up with the whole look of the character...he's a genius."

If Magazine spoke to Schifrin as well. The director described filming in tiny Idyllwild, California and in L.A.'s Griffith Park at the Bronson Caves, where numerous genre shows did location shooting, including several Star Trek episodes. He also explained that shooting was interrupted at one point by a benefit concert to benefit Hurricane Katrina victims that required Combs and Henriksen to shoot at 3 a.m.

A preview for the film may be seen at SciFi.com. The film airs at 9 p.m. on May 20th and reruns several times.
