Photonic lifeforms rejoice - Robert Picardo's (the EMH) guide to surviving in a world full of solids will be released next month.

Entitled 'The Hologram's Handbook,' the work is a "a tongue-in-cheek guide to holographic living," according to StarTrek.com.

Picardo, who has plenty of experience with holographic characters after his seven years aboard Voyager, dispenses humourous advice on a range of subjects pertinent to our photonic beings. The book includes illustrations by actor Jeff Yagher, who portrayed Iden in the 'Flesh and Blood' telefilm.

Fans will also be able to have copies of the book signed by Picardo on Monday, May 20, when the actor will be appearing at the Barnes & Noble bookstore in the Farmer's Market, 189 Grove Drive, Los Angeles, from 8:00pm PST.

'The Hologram's Handbook' can be pre-ordered from Amazon.com for $11.96, 20% off the recommended retail price.
