Moore To Take On 'The Thing From Another World'

Former Star Trek writer Ron Moore, the executive producer of Sci-Fi's Battlestar Galactica, is writing the screenplay for a new version of The Thing From Another World.

iF Magazine reported that Moore would produce a new dramatization for Universal Pictures and Strike Entertainment, which previously collaborated on the Dawn of the Dead remake.

The Thing From Another World, directed in 1951 by Christian Nyby and produced by Howard Hawks, was based on a short story bu John W. Campbell called "Who Goes There?" The 1982 film by John Carpenter was titled The Thing.

The story is set in Antarctica, where a shape-shifting alien creates horror for a team of researchers.
