'Voyager DVD' photo - copyright Paramount PicturesParamount Pictures this week announced the debut of Star Trek: Voyager on DVD.

The five-disc set of the first season is scheduled to be released on February 24, 2004, StarTrek.com reported. All fifteen season one episodes, from the two-part premiere, "Caretaker", to "Learning Curve" will be included in the package, remixed in Dolby Digital English 5.1 tracks and English Dolby Surround.

Extra features will be presented in a similar manner to the Next Generation and Deep Space Nine DVD releases. These include the featurette "Braving The Unknown: Season One", which features interviews with creators Rick Berman, Michael Piller and Jeri Taylor. Actress Kate Mulgrew takes centre stage in "Voyager Time Capsule: Kathryn Janeway", which contains interviews with Voyager's leading lady as well as behind-the-scenes footage.

The package also includes what will be one of the most eagerly-anticipated bonus features, "The First Captain: Genevieve Bujold". Executive producer Rick Berman provides commentary on the scenes shot with the producers' first choice to play Captain Janeway, actress Genevieve Bujold, who walked off the set only a few days into the filming of "Caretaker".

Rounding out the bonus disc are "Cast Reflections: Season One", "On Location with the Kazon", "Red Alert: Visual Effects Season One", "Launching Voyager on the Web", "Real Science with Andre Bormanis", and "Lost Transmissions from the Delta Quadrant".

According to the official site's report, the set is likely to be available for under $100. Please note that this information only applies to the Region 1 (North America) package, though it is expected similar features will be included on worldwide releases.
