Last week, rumour emerged that Kate Mulgrew (Kathryn Janeway) would be making an appearance in the next Star Trek movie, Trek X: Nemesis. This weekend at a Slanted Fedora convention, one of her Voyager co stars added credence to this rumour.

Robert Duncan McNeill told fans (via TrekWeb) that a friend of his who still works at Paramount informed him that Mulgrew is indeed the one set for the cameo appearance in the next feature.

Previous reports suggested that Jeri Ryan was being courted by Trek producers for a role in the film. Ryan reportedly declined the offer to appear in the film, due to commitments with her new series, Boston Public. As Ryan seemed to be unavailable, the producers rewrote Seven's appearance in Star Trek X to feature Mulgrew's character. (story) Her appearance has still to be officially confirmed, but current rumours suggest she is scheduled for two days filming on the movie in October.

Also at the convention, Roxann Dawson, Robert Picardo, and Ethan Phillips apparently agreed with McNeill that the final moments of the Voyager finale 'Endgame' lacked emotional impact. Though the actors said that the final moments should have been handled differently, they disagreed on the ways this should have been shown.

The convention took place in Chicago, and featured Jeri Ryan (Seven of Nine) and Cirroc Lofton (Jake Sisko) in addition to the Voyager stars above. Armin Shimerman (Quark) and Max Grödenchik (Rom) wrote an exclusive play for the convention, which was performed in public for the first time over the weekend. The four Voyager stars performed a collection of skits and plays, while Babylon 5's Tracy Scoggins also made an appearance.

You can read more about the convention in the original report here at TrekWeb, or at the Slanted Fedora site.
