The first Star Trek game to be created soley for use on mobile phones has been released.

The game, based upon 'Star Trek: Nemesis', has been released as a joint venture between Star Trek games publisher Activision, and Mforma Group. The game follows the plot of the movie, and allows users to play in first-person 3D shooter mode as well as taking control of the bridge of the Enterprise.

The deal marks the first time that Star Trek has moved beyond the home computer. To make the move into a new platform, Activision joined up with Mforma, a global provider of mobile data solutions for wireless operators. Activision is pleased with that link up. "Mforma has done a great job of developing the 'Star Trek Nemesis' game for the wireless medium," said Dave Anderson, director of business development and licensing for Activision. "The game is really fun to play and faithful to the Star Trek brand."

The game is currently availlable to users in the US and Europe, through operators Sprint PCS, Vodafone U.K., Vodafone Spain, O2 Germany and Mobilcom Austria.

More information can be found at the official Nemesis Mforma website.
