Ron Moore Talks Series V Again

After their interview about Ronald D. Moore's 'Dragonriders of Pern' series pitch (story), the people at the Sci-Fi Wire have put up a new interview with the former Trek writer, this time talking about the upcoming Star Trek series.

According to Moore, who has no formal ties with the Star Trek franchise anymore but remains friendly with many of the people in it, he believes pre-production work on Series V has been put on hold for the near future. "All I know is that, at the moment, [the new Trek series] is on hold, because there are questions about [the future of] UPN, questions about the strikes. At the moment, they're not casting or building sets. It's kind of in a holding pattern."

As for the theme of the show, Moore said he's heard the same rumours as everyone else: that Series V will be a 'Birth of the Federation' show. "That's what I hear," he said. "The series is set before [...] the original series."

The original article from the Sci-Fi Wire can be found here. More on the writers' strike and how it could affect Series V can be found in our analysis
