'The Last Man' - courtesy Site Name, copyright Lions Gate FilmsThe independent feature film 'The Last Man' starring Voyager's Jeri Ryan (Seven of Nine) was released on video and DVD earlier this month.

Written and directed by Harry Walston, the film centres on the fat and balding Alan Gould, who also happens to be the last man on Earth. He enjoys a hedonistic existence with Sarah, the last woman, until the spunky Raphael appears on the scene to challenge him for Sarah's affections.

'Last Action Hero' scribe David Arnott stars as the unattractive Alan, with Ryan as Sarah and Dan Montgomery (Providence) as the hunk.

Cinescape's Michael Tunison said the film, which won the Lumiere Award at the New Orleans Film Festival, is full of "plenty of amusing exchanges, keen observations about human mating habits and sharp dialogue."

After playing Seven of Nine for four years on Voyager, Ryan now stars as lawyer-turned-teacher Ronnie Cooke on the David E. Kelley series Boston Public. The actress is currently filming the 1960s sex comedy homage 'Down With Love,' with Ewan McGregor and Renée Zellweger.

The DVD edition of 'The Last Man' is available to order from online retailers Amazon.com and Amazon.ca.
