Former Seven of Nine actress Jeri Ryan swore never to wear another Borg cat suit again. She's traded those in for smart suits she'll be wearing in her new role in Fox drama Boston Public.

She will be joining the cast for its second season of the show as a disgruntled former corporate lawyer, Ronnie Cook who decides on a career change; revealed Fox Entertainment President Gail Berman as part of the Television Critics Association press tour. But the character's transition from lawyer to schoolteacher will not be easy. "Her teacher will be wealthier than the other teachers, having made money in her corporate life," said Berman.

Ryan's character is set to clash with other teachers at the troubled urban school. She will use her money to buy classroom supplies that her colleagues can't afford. "There is a tremendous amount of drama and friction she will add to the show," Berman said.

Boston Public is a drama series about the professional and personal lives of a group of teachers at Boston's Winslow High School. The critically acclaimed show was created by David E. Kelley, who also created popular shows such as Ally McBeal and The Practice. The show recently received nominations in the outstanding art direction for a single-camera series and outstanding guest actress in a drama series categories for this year's Emmy Awards

The new season of Boston Public will start on Monday October 22nd on Fox. You can read more about Ryan's role in the show in this Associated Press article. Thanks go out to Lee Jamilkowski for this!
