Hello World!

People who know me know that I'm incredibly fussy when it comes to music – I'm a compulsive channel surfer when it comes to radio, something which annoys my friends to no end. I refuse to listen to songs I don't like – of which there are many. Rules for my car radio include no boy-bands, manufactured pop, no Celine Dion, Bryan Adams, Savage Garden and others of their ilk. People who want to listen to Brittney Spears walk. I rarely buy CDs – I don't often see the point in spending what little money I have on a disc containing only a couple of songs that I'll like. Makes me hard to buy for at Christmas, let me tell you. But what do I like? A number of little aussie bands you've never heard of, some good 'ol rock, some good ol' *old* rock, a bit of electronic, some classical… well, suffice it to say I have varied taste. I like a little of everything. At the moment I'm going through a Rocky Horror picture Show/Blues Brothers phase – that is, when no-body else is in the house, I bung my 'borrowed' (yes Clinton, you will get it back one day. One day ;) collectors edition copy of Rocky Horror into the VCR and play through all the songs at obscene volumes. And sing along, annoying the neighbors and scaring the dog in the process. And Blues Brothers? Well, much the same until my younger sibling taped over it with some action rubbish. But now, thanks to a friend I am now quite indebted to, I have two of the Blues Brothers CD's sitting merrily on my computer. Where I can play them at obscene volumes and not annoy anyone for a change.

In other news, how long has it been since I complain about my computer? Or moaned about how much I hate, loathe, detest and despise Windows 98? Today I got blue-screened no less than 5 times, lost several saved files, wrestled with RealPlayer Jukebox and then MusicMatch Jukebox to get above Blues Brothers files to place, discovered that any patch I install will stop the related program from running, discovered that Windows has decided one of my DLL files is out of date and got stuck in a Windows registry error re-boot cycle until I got sick of it and unplugged the damn thing for half an hour. Sigh. An the worst thing is that no error-finding device I install can find a problem. Sometimes I just want to set the damn thing on file, jump up and down on it a few times and ten move somewhere where they have yet to discover the 'joys' of technology.

Corrections

In the section of yesterday's 'Nightingale Behind the Scenes' transcript, the portion of Kate Mulgrew's interview marked as 'unintelligible' is actually:

"Well I would first say that I would take a break, and not produce another series."

Thanks go out to Brian Cahill for this!
