Takei And Altman Wed

George Takei and his long-term partner Brad Altman were wed on Sunday in a multicultural ceremony in Los Angeles.

As reported by the Associated Press and Pageoneq.com, the Japanese-American National Museum was the location for the nuptials of Takei and Altman. "It was exquisite," said Takei. "It was magical. It's something we're going to remember for the rest of our lives."

The couple wore white dinner jackets with black pants, and made their entrance to the tune of One Singular Sensation from A Chorus Line. Other music included a Japanese Koto harp and a bagpipe procession.

Takei and Altman shared a traditional Japanese tea ceremony and were married by a Buddhist priest, exchanging Native American wedding bands. They wrote their own vows for the ceremony. Part of Takei's vows to Altman were "I vow to care for you as you've cared for me, and to love you as my husband and the only man in my life."

Altman said that in addition to other titles he had given Takei over the years, such as "life partner, significant other," he "can add 'my husband' to the list of things I call you." For Altman, their marriage was "a dream come true for me."

Guests, including Walter Koenig and Nichelle Nichols, dined on Asian/Baja California fusion cuisine. They took home Japanese tea ceremony treats in boxes which had printed on them: "May sweet equality live long and prosper."

Takei and Altman will honeymoon in Argentina and Peru.
