ABC has picked up Sam I Am, a new series starring Christina Applegate and featuring Tim Russ (Tuvok), for the 2007-8 season.

ComingSoon.net reported that the show was on the network's fall slate, though the series may not debut until late in the season. 13 episodes have been ordered. The pilot was directed by Russ's Voyager co-star Robert Duncan McNeill (Paris).

Christina Applegate plays the Sam of the title - an amnesiac who discovers that she was not a nice person before the accident that robbed her of her memories, according to The Futon Critic. The series is likely to run on Monday nights at 9:30 following Dancing with the Stars, which would put it into competition with NBC's hit Heroes.

Zap2It stated that stars Applegate and Barry Watson have good chemistry and said that Sam I Am had "fine supporting turns" from other cast members, who include Jennifer Esposito and Kevin Dunn. "There could be a lot to like here, with one nagging question: How long can the show realistically play out a plot about having amnesia?"

In other news from ABC, Boston Legal is currently scheduled to remain in its Tuesday 10 p.m. slot, but Variety stated that that could change. "In a sign that ABC's schedule is already pretty flexible, there was talk that the net may decide instead to premiere 'Cashmere Mafia' in the 10 p.m. slot," said the trade paper. William Shatner (Kirk) and Rene Auberjonois (Odo) are both regulars on Boston Legal.
