Dorn Almost Didn't Sign On For 'Nemesis'

Michael Dorn (Worf) said yesterday he nearly had to say no to 'Star Trek Nemesis' after he couldn't negotiate a satisfactory contract.

"I was very close," Dorn told the Sci-Fi Wire. "It was extremely close. It was just negotiation stuff, business. But it was very close. There were several times when I just called my friends [TNG cast members] before they found out, and I said, 'Look, it's just not going to happen. I'm really sorry.' But at the last minute [Paramount Pictures] came up with something that I could live with."

Although Dorn did eventually board the Enterprise-E for another - possibly final - adventure with the Next Generation crew, his character didn't get much of a look-in.

"Worf isn't up to much in Nemesis," the actor said. "Usually he has his fighting stuff. He gets one or two scenes where he really is doing Worf stuff. In this movie there isn't any of that. There's a lot of stuff going on [in general], and I think the Worf kinds of scenes just didn't lend themselves to this particular installment of our series."
