The panic for Star Trek fans in Missouri is over - the second season of Enterprise will air on schedule this Autumn in St. Louis.

WHSL on Channel 46 has secured a deal to screen the adventures of the NX-01 and Buffy the Vampire Slayer in the city starting next week, reported the St Louis Post-Dispatch.

WHSL-TV is currently an affiliate of the Home Shopping Network, due to become a full-time UPN affiliate in April 2003. This meant that fans in the St. Louis area would be unable to see their favourite shows until the switch-over - missing out on most of the season.

General Manager of WHSL, Gregg Filandrinos said that he received hundreds of calls from panicking Trek and Buffy fans. "I felt an obligation to these viewers," he said. "I hated to have them miss a whole season before April."

The deal worked out by Filandrinos involves pre-empting the Home Shopping Network programming for two hours a week. Only Buffy and Enterprise will air - viewers wanting to see other UPN programming like new genre show Haunted or Twilight Zone, are out of luck until April next year.

Enterprise has a particular connection to St Louis - it's the home city of Scott Bakula (Jonathan Archer).

More on the deal to bring Buffy and Enterprise to St. Louis can be found by following this link to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Thanks go out to Brad Young and Hammock for this news!
