As was widely expected, the UPN television network has signed a deal with Paramount Pictures to air Enterprise next season.

Variety's Michael Schneider and Josef Adalian today reported the Enterprise deal had been reached, but did not provide any information on the timeslot in which the show will be aired. Such scheduling info, as well as more details of the show itself, are expected when UPN unveils it Fall schedule tomorrow.

The trade paper also reported that UPN may be considering holding back Stephen King's Dead Zone for a midseason debut. The series had previously been said to be one of the projects UPN had the most confidence in, and initial reactions to the pilot had generally been positive (story). If the network indeed decides to push back the series, this may be due to the already very large number of science-fiction shows it is expected to air this Fall.

UPN was previously expected to air Enterprise on Wednesdays at 8:00pm, followed by Dead Zone at 9:00pm. If Dead Zone is indeed pushed back to a January debut, it is likely Enterprise will still air on Wednesday, though it may then also be moved back to the old Voyager timeslot at 9:00pm.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer has been tipped to air on Tuesday together with Roswell, leaving former Voyager lead-ins Seven Days and Special Unit 2 as possible shows UPN could pair with Series V. Both were expected to be axed, but if UPN decides to push back Dead Zone that will create room on the schedule to renew one of the two shows.

In other UPN news, Variety said that long-running comedy series Moesha was expected to be cancelled. The most likely contender to replace the show is still sitcom One on One.

UPN is still scheduled to officially unveil next season's line-up tomorrow, during its annual upfront meeting with advertisers.
