Trekkies 2, the follow-up to executive producer Denise Crosby (Tasha Yar)'s documentary Trekkies, premiered last night at the Paramount Theater for cast and crew members including several present and past Star Trek stars.

StarTrek.com reported on the event and has exclusive streaming interview footage with Crosby, director Roger Nygard and actors Dominic Keating (Malcolm Reed) and Vaughn Armstrong (Admiral Forrest) about Trekkies 2 and their experiences with the international fans who are the focus of the film.

"I think that we learned so much making the first one," Crosby said. "The whole point [of the sequel] was doing an international look at fandom."

Nygard added that he wanted to know what Star Trek fans were like overseas.

Armstrong and Keating attended the screening last night along with Casey Biggs (Damar), Trekkies interviewee Gabriel Koerner and producer Michael Leahy, who said, "I'm here to tell you that Trekkies are everywhere!"

Leahy said that Trekkies 2 was created from over 150 hours of footage filmed in eight different countries.

"I really enjoyed making this documentary, because I really loved the people we met," said Nygard, citing positive fan energy as a reason.

Trekkies 2 has its public premiere at the Newport Beach Film Festival on Tuesday, April 20th. After several other screenings, the movie will be released on DVD during the summer.

A listing of upcoming screenings may be found at the official web site. The original article on the debut and the video interviews are here.
