GameSpot Previews Trek Games

Over at GameSpot UK they've just put up a small Star Trek special, consisting of previews of the 'Voyager: Elite Force' game for the PC, and 'Invasion' for the Playstation. The really interesting part of the special, however, is an interview with Klingon Academy producer Raphael Hernandez. Here's the first question from the interview:

GameSpot UK: KA is set just prior to Star Trek VI. How has the film influenced the game and are there any other films or episodes of Star Trek which have fed into the design?

Raphael Hernandez: Star Trek VI has had a profound influence because the game has been intended as a prequel to that movie. From its inception, we've embarked upon a development path that would explain in detail the origins, histories and motivations of the Klingon characters in Star Trek VI. Taking this approach has given us two things, 1) an opportunity to expand upon one of the best Star Trek films yet released, which the fans will find very appealing, and, 2) a storyline that lends itself very well to intense, combat-oriented missions.

In the rest of the interview, Hernandez talks about everything from mission design to the cut-scenes to having to learn the Klingon language for the game.
