Sideshow Toy To Produce Trek Busts

By Caillan
December 15, 2002 - 3:30 PM

Busts of characters from the Original Series and Next Generation will be released next year by Sideshow Toy, which recently acquired the Star Trek collectible license.

The range kicks off in March 2003 with limited edition, polystone busts of two of Trek's most recognisable faces - Captain James T. Kirk and Spock. All the Original Series characters will be released by the end of the year.

Captain Picard and Data will debut in May 2003, followed by Geordi La Forge and Worf later in the year, and Commander Riker and Counsellor Troi in January 2004. Not all characters will be available in retail outlets, with Doctor Crusher and Uhura included in a special "web exclusives" range for purchase only on the Internet. Other characters to be immortalised in bust form include the Gorn and Q.

Sideshow Toy, which has been granted the license to produce collectibles from all five television series and ten feature films by Paramount, plans to manufacture between four and six thousand of each of the 7-inch high polystone busts. The new line will be shown for the first time at the New York International Toy Fair, which runs from February 16 to 19, 2003.

Further information can be found in the original press release.
