George Takei (Hikaru Sulu) recently added a new column to his web site. This update provides the news that Takei will lend his voice talents to two cartoon characters, and includes a report from the actor about the recent wedding of Star Trek novelist Peter David.

Takei recorded guest roles in The Simpsons and Saturday morning cartoon show Jackie Chan. This will be the actor's third guest role in The Simpsons, as he previously voiced Akira in the episoded 'One Fish, Two Fish, Blowfish, Blue Fish,' and '30 Minutes Over Tokyo.' His role in Jackie Chan will see him provide the voice of a "wise and benign Buddhist priest."

The Original Series actor also attended the wedding of author Peter David, of Peter David, author of books such as Imzadi and New Frontier.

David married his wife Kathleen, a stage manager and editor at Emory University, Atlanta. Takei commented that though the ceremony was lovely, it was the reception that "really captured the spirit of the couple." It took place at the Shakespeare Tavern, a converted warehouse decorated in the manner of Shakespeare's Globe theatre in London. Also in attendance was Bill Mumy, who played Lennier on Babylon Five. Mumy and David together created the Cable Ace Award-nominated science fiction series Space Cases, which ran for two seasons on Nickelodeon. Takei concluded his account by wishing the couple well in their new union: "May this marriage live long and prosper."
